  • Primary Location: Arlington, VA (Pentagon), Alexandria, VA (Mark Center), Ft Belvoir, VA, Dahlgren, VA, Hurlburt AFB, FL, Eglin AFB, FL, Tampa, FL, Huntsville, AL, and The Navy Yard, Washington D.C.
  • Security Clearance: Shall have and maintain a SECRET clearance with potential TOP SECRET or TS/SCI
  • Clearance Status: Have an existing clearance.  U.S. citizenship is required
  • Schedule: Full Time, projected start date May 2016. ***Contingent Hires / New Task Orders***
  • Travel: TBD, approx. 15% to other locations

  • Required Education (min): Bachelor’s degree in a recognized scientific, technical, engineering, management (STEM) or related discipline relevant to the contract


Provides Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Staff, Service and Agency clients with life cycle analysis, requirements, engineering and technical support.  It requires scientific engineering disciplines up to and including systems engineering through all life cycle phases:  concept development, component/subsystem/system design, testing/evaluation and fielding and operations and maintenance.  This position provided support across the portfolio of directed energy weapons systems, components and technologies. Supports Science and Technology and Research and Development activities. Provides input to Directed Energy concept development, requirements development and testing. Supports systems engineering operations and maintenance activities of Directed Energy systems. Directed Energy technologies include High Energy Laser and High Power Microwave systems as well as their components and sub-components.


  • Leads and conducts analytical tasks, utilizing both systems engineering techniques, and processes for complex directed energy science/technology, science/technology and developmental/acquisition programs
  • Responsible for leading the development and utilization of analytic tools, techniques, and processes for both technical and administrative support activities.
  • Leads teams to solve problems but also works independently.
  • Responsible for providing daily supervision and direction to support teams.
  • Uses modeling and simulation tools to assess directed energy engineering and warfighting effectiveness

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS                                     

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or other relevant technical disciplines
  • Secret clearance
  • 15 years of professional technical experience
  • 10 years of experience executing activities in the systems engineering “vee” to include concept development, requirements analysis, testing or operations/maintenance.
  • 5 years of experience supporting one or more of the following technologies: lasers, High Energy Laser, Airborne Laser, LaWS, LIDAR, LADAR, laser dazzler, beam control, DIRCM, adaptive optics, phased array systems, thermal management systems, High Power Microwave, millimeter wave technology, high power radio frequency (HPRF) waveforms, pulsed power, pulse forming networks, power modulators, and electromagnetics.
  • Experience developing subcomponents for directed energy technology such as antennas, power supplies, waveguides and capacitors is also acceptable.
  • 2 years of experience in technical project management


  • Master’s degree
  • Develops and employs engineering and war-gaming models and simulations to assess directed energy system effectiveness
  • Modeling and simulation expertise
  • DAWIA Level II (or equivalent) certifications in program management, systems engineering, acquisition or test and evaluation
